AN OPEN LETTER TO AFRICAN-AMERICAN LEADERS:

Hi everyone,

You've seen me post excerpts from letters I've received from Fr. Frank Pavone. What many may not be aware of is that Dr. Alveda C. King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, is a Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life. On the priests for life website, Dr. Alveda C. King has an open letter she wrote to African-American leaders. Following, I post an excerpt from it, with the link to the complete letter on the website. I think that Dr. Alveda King's voice is an important one in the African-American community and needs to be heard far above some like Jesse Jackson who supports abortion. We all need to realise the terrible reality of the holocaust of abortion.

The letter Dr. Alveda King writes begins with the following quote from Dr. Martic Luther King himself.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere…The Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for personal comfort and safety."
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This is an open letter to appeal to all people who respect the work, life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. More specifically, it is a wake-up call to the African American community. As a mature, Black, female living in America, my heart weeps every time I hear or see stories about our youth cut down in acts of senseless violence. Time after time, I have asked the question, HOW CAN THE DREAM SURVIVE IF WE MURDER THE CHILDREN?

Dr. Alveda C. King, Pastoral Associate
