FightFOCA: Congressman says FOCA is coming

Today I received this email from AUL (Americans United for Life), with an important update about the dreaded FOCA. Please read and join the mail list.

Pro-abortion forces were saying that while the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) was important, it was no longer among their top priorities. Instead they were going to start with working to get our tax dollars to pay for abortion here in the United States as well as in countries around the world.

We call this strategy FOCA “by-stealth.”

But now, a staffer for staunchly pro-abortion Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,

"[FOCA] is among the congressman's priorities. We expect to reintroduce it sooner rather than later."

Because you signed the FightFOCA petition and are on the FightFOCA mailing list, taking action when needed, we have been able to delay FOCA and make President Obama break his promise that FOCA would be “the first thing” he would sign as President.
But, while we wait for Congressman Nadler and his allies to bring FOCA forward, I need you to be a part of other battles we are already fighting.
As you may know, FightFOCA is just one project of
AUL Action, the legislative arm of Americans United for Life, the first national prolife organization in the country. Our vision is a nation in which everyone is welcomed in life and protected in law.
That means that we don’t just focus on fighting FOCA. We also work to pass pro-life laws in Congress and in state capitols across the nation. And, in addition to opposing abortion, we also help defend human life by fighting physician assisted suicide, working to ban human cloning and destructive embryo research, protecting pro-life healthcare workers from discrimination, and more.

When I recently appeared on Governor Mike Huckabee’s FOX News show, he called us “the premier pro-life organization in America.”
In order for us to both fight FOCA and build more protections for human life in the law, I need you to join our broader email list -- AUL & AUL Action’s Whole Life Action Team.
